Doncaster Film Club – The Shining

Doncaster Film Club – The Shining

Martin Scorsese called it ‘majestically terrifying’. Roger Ebert called it ‘strangely disturbing’. Pauline Kael called it ‘satanic’. Here at Doncaster Film Club, we simply describe it as The Greatest Horror Film Ever Made.
The Shining arrived like an axe to the stomach in October of 1980 and it’s been terrifying audiences ever since. The performances of Jack Nicholson and Shelley Duvall have become etched in cinema history, Stanley Kubrick’s masterful direction is still unlike anything that has been released before or since and Wendy Carlos’ haunting score is one for the ages. Put simply, The Shining is a cinematic behemoth.

All work and no cinema trips makes for dull patrons indeed. Come down to the Little Theatre to experience The Shining in all of its insane glory. Just don’t stumble into Room 237 on your way to the toilet.
