Polly is backstage rehearsing her one-liner for a production of King Lear. She has been on stage several times before but for some reason this production seems like a big deal and she becomes ‘haunted’ by the past. Will she be able to do it?

The act of living follows Tom and Evelyn’s intertwined lives from their childhood during World War 2 through to their old age. It is a gentle, bittersweet story of how life unfolds bringing with it the inevitable heights and lows.
